St. Michael Church was founded in 1897 on Edgington Lane in Wheeling, WV, along with the first school, which was located in a small room above the sanctuary and in an area behind the sacristy. In the early 1900s, a new school building was erected behind the church. Then in 1929, the cornerstone for a new St. Michael Parish School was laid at its present location on National Road, welcoming the first class of students in January 1930.

Today, St. Michael Parish School boasts an enrollment of over 255 students (Preschool, Transitional Kindergarten, and K-8). There are 30 professional faculty/staff members dedicated to a mission to:

“Provide the on-going educational formation of all students in the context of Gospel values. As a Catholic community, we strive to elevate the performance of all students. Challenging them spiritually, academically, socially, and emotionally prepares students to be responsible members of society in the 21st Century. St. Michael Parish School calls all members to use their God-given talents to live out their faith through stewardship by serving God and others.”

With a rigorous faith-based curriculum, an unrivaled tradition of student community service, state-of-the-art technology utilized in all classrooms, and top-notch athletics and extracurricular activity programs, St. Michael’s welcomes students of all faiths and prepares them to be good stewards.
